Were there no women in Paris in the decades before 1939 that looked even remotely like this? I certainly don’t think that this body type is to be preferred to all others as is now the case, but this woman is clearly better looking than many of Agelou’s models (for example). If she had gone into Agelou’s studio looking for work would he have turned her away as unfashionable? Was diet so different then that no women looked like this?

Maybe she’s cross-eyed and has buck teeth.

I can’t afford supermodels either.  I don’t want to burst anybody’s bubble, but the editing skills I know were developed making my models look perfect.
